Effecting Change

The use of demonstration is the best way to effect change. Progress is often resisted by economic forces having a vested interest in the conventional approach. This often will place barriers to even the most exciting innovations. Until home owners have practical experience in applying new ideas, it is difficult for widespread change to occur.

With a possible rise of 6°C in Western Australia's average temperature in the next 20 to 30 years, due to Climate change, the community needs to take action.

The concepts that are demonstrated in the eco-compounds are;

High efficiency PASSIVE solar design (leading to 90% savings in energy usage).
A grid-connected state of the art solar POWER system (feeding power back into the grid and offering low running costs).
State of the art solar hot water systems ( sharing between 2 or more homes increases savings and efficiency).
Permaculture garden systems as part of a water wise garden.
The ability to share some common land, under Strata Agreement rules.
